A HARMONIC UNIVERSE: GEOMETRY, HARMONY & THE MEASURE OF HEAVEN AND EARTH
Explore the ancient science of harmonics with geometer Adam Tetlow and discover astonishing connections between the arts of number and the origins of human culture. Bringing together new research with the work of John Neal, John Michell, R.A.Schwaller de Lubicz and a cast of scientists and visionaries. This talk promises to radically deepen your perception of ancient humanities' understanding of sound, geometry, measure and the universe. With monochord demonstrations and beautiful diagrams.
Adam Tetlow is an artist, ethno-mathematician and writer. A former student of Keith Critchlow, Adam is author of Celtic Pattern, co-author of Sacred Number (as Miranda Lundy) and contributor to Quadrivium, Designa and Trivium, all published by Wooden Books. His forthcoming book Ancient Metrology: Harmonic Number Science, is the summation of four years of research in close consultation with John Neal. Adam teaches geometry courses with the PSTA, his website is www.adamtetlow.net
The RILKO Lecture by John Gordon previously scheduled for the 27th October
2017 has been CANCELLED, due to illness. However, there is a replacement
speaker and the event has also beenRESCHEDULED to Friday 20th October 2017.
Friday 20th October 2017.
THE FULFILMENT OF KEPLER'S DREAM
Geometric Order within the Solar System
Modern astronomical procedures have enabled Hartmut to discover wonderfully
aesthetic movement figures and astounding geometric structures in our solar
system. The results of his work are represented with the aid of
sophisticated computer projections that provide a remarkable experience not
only for astrologers and astronomers but for anyone interested in our
universe. The cosmos breathes mysteriously in the structures, which are
revealed like geometrical archetypes. Ancient ideas of a 'harmony of the
spheres', especially the work of Johannes Kepler, the famous 17th century
astronomer, thus reappear in a new light. This talk continues Hartmut's
lectures to RILKO in 2015 and 2016.
Hartmut Warm was born in 1956, is a civil engineer and independent
researcher in astronomy, geometry, the history of harmonics and musical
aesthetics. He has taught, lectured and published widely on these and other
subjects, and in particular on his discoveries relating to the solar system
and its inherent order. His book Signature of the Celestial Spheres was
published by Rudolf Steiner Press in 2010. He lives in Hamburg, Germany.
Friday, October 27th CANCELLED (see above)
WORKING WITH THE ELEMENTAL LANDSCAPE
John has been working with the sacred landscape west of Penzance and will talk about his approach to working with the elemental beings and the land, despite the fact that he himself is not clairvoyant. John works with the principle put forward by those who formulate the concept: “I and the land are one.”
John Gordon has been involved with both the spiritual and educational side of Rudolf Steiner’s work and for many years gave talks, lectures and workshops at Rudolf Steiner House in London. He then retired to West Penwith: ‘The True West’ in 1999.

THE JOHN MICHELL MEMORIAL LECTURE
VOICES OF THE ANCESTORS: ADVENTURES IN PREHISTORIC SOUND
How did prehistoric people regard music, sound, and acoustic phenomena such as echoes? Steve leads us on a sound journey through prehistory, showing how sound was crucial to the design of many megalithic structures. Using stunning images, video and sound recordings, he demonstrates how the monuments of Avebury and other ancient sites are alive with echoes; some have infrasonic resonances that are too low to be heard, but can produce ‘altered states of consciousness’. The audience can actually experience this, when the resonances of the West Kennet long barrow are recreated live in the lecture hall!
Steve Marshall, author of Exploring Avebury: The Essential Guide, was a professional musician and recording engineer for 30 years, working for a time as a composer in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Steve is a well-known archaeoacoustics researcher and has had several academic papers published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a regular contributor to Fortean Times.

OUR JOURNEY FROM NAIVETY TO WISDOM
An authentic Tarot deck is an encyclopaedia of enigmatic images representing a system of mythical wisdom encoded in the 78 pictures and numbers. The cards tell an ageless story of our journey through life and our quest for self-fulfilment.
Tonight’s talk is an introduction to deciphering the images to reveal the profound insights covertly expressed in the teachings of mystical doctrines.
Thomas Saunders has been a professional Tarot reader for the past 25 years, was a regular broadcaster on the Tarot on the Pete Murray Show for LBC London Radio and in 1993 he was the Tarot expert for the Marie Claire magazine for three years.
In 2007 Watkins published his book The Authentic Tarot – Discovering Your Inner Self.
His autobiography Getting A Life was published in 2014 by Silverwood Books
THE CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN MUSIC AND PLANETARY RATIOS: THE GENUINE ‘HARMONY OF THE SPHERES.’
Modern astronomical procedures have enabled Hartmut to discover astounding harmonic and musical structures and wonderfully aesthetic movement figures in our solar system. The results of his work are represented with the aid of computer projections which are remarkable to experience. Hartmut also shows how the ratios between music and certain planetary velocities are in statistically significant accordance. The ancient idea of a ‘harmony of the spheres’ is thus really confirmed for the first time.
Hartmut Warm was born in 1956, is a civil engineer and independent researcher in astronomy, geometry, the history of harmonics and musical aesthetics. He has taught, lectured and published widely on these and other subjects, and in particular on his discoveries relating to the solar system and its inherent order. His book Signature of the Celestial Spheres was published by Rudolf Steiner Press in 2010. He lives in Hamburg, Germany.
Friday, November 25th The John Michell Memorial Lecture
JOHN WOOD AND THE COSMOLOGICAL VISION OF ALBION
John Michell described an ancient land which held encoded within it a primordial mystical vision. Inspired by Michell, this talk examines the thought and work of one of his predecessors: John Wood. Wood (1704-1754) was a visionary who mapped Albion’s ancient monuments. They revealed to him the native mysteries of both Britain and Greece.
Wood went on, in Bath, to create his own architecture of revelation.
Simon Wilson has long been fascinated by Western esotericism, tradition and the imagination. A teacher and writer, he has published and lectured widely on topics such as the Grail, Earth Mysteries, Eastern Orthodox Christianity, UFOs, Charles Fort, John Michell, visionary architecture, and the imaginal history of a Cambridge college. He is an Associate Tutor at Canterbury Christ Church University, where he teaches on the Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred MA and supervises research students.

Friday February 24th
THE PERPETUAL CHOIRS
The circle of perpetual choirs was discovered by the late, and great John Michell, someone who inspired the speaker through his writings and in personal conversations. The perpetual choirs, John said, were an ancient mechanism to enchant the land with harmony. In this presentation, featuring beautiful images and charming stories and songs, Giles will explore the story of the perpetual choirs through his worldwide study that has taken him to sing in ancient abbey’s in Wales, aboriginal sacred sound chambers and Indian temples.
Giles Bryant has spent decades studying the sacred relationship between sacred sites, healing music and its effect on planetary consciousness. After graduating in Law, he went to live in a forest in rural Essex and devote himself to the study of yoga, healing and music. Giles has been inspired by the revelation of the circles of perpetual choirs and gathered a collection of healing musicians from around the world to create music to help return knowledge of the perpetual choirs to the world.
Friday March 31st 'ALL BEINGS ARE BORN ENLIGHTENED BUT IT TAKES A LIFETIME TO DISCOVER THIS'Thomas Saunders.
Please note - last-minute change of speaker:
Thomas Saunders most kindly offered to step in to take the place of the scheduled speaker and harpist, John Dalton who most unfortunately had to withdraw at very short notice. Thomas is a very long-standing RILKO member, a contributor to the RILKO Journal and has previously given lectures to the Organisation.
It is hoped that John's talk will be rescheduled for a future date.
Friday March 31st A JOURNEY THROUGH THE TWELVE SENSES
In addition to the well-known five senses, we consider those of the body, soul and spirit, seeing how they all work in harmony and allow us to perceive everything from sights and sounds to concepts and character. We find how the senses work at physical and spiritual levels and understand how, though the senses can be polluted like the environment, we can work meditatively with these wonderful windows on the world.
John Dalton, the former founder of New View magazine, manager of Rudolf Steiner Press, journalist and performer, gives experiential talks that cover such topics as the mysteries and evolution of music; the archetypes and music; nature, art and science; octaves and elements, and the origins of gender and sexuality. Accompanying all his talks with harp, John describes himself as “a modern bard, reading the Book of Nature and showing that we still live amidst The Mysteries.”
Friday April 28th7.30 pm The Annual Robert Cowley Memorial Lecture
The RILKO AGM (6.45 - 7.15pm, Doors open 6.30pm, Members ONLY) will precede this public lecture.
Please note the later 7.30 pm lecture start on this occasion - ALL are welcome to the lecture - Non-Members as well as members.
THE LOST TECHNOLOGY OF ANCIENT EGYPT
In his illustrated presentation, Marcus will show evidence indicating that the skills seemingly in use over 4,000 years ago in Ancient Egypt are virtually impossible to replicate today using the tools we are told were available there at the time. The elegant and sophisticated artefacts seen today across Egypt, from Giza to Luxor to Aswan, are evidence for an apparent lost technology.
After a career with a major motor manufacturer, Marcus became the UK publisher of NEXUS Magazine, which he and his wife first introduced to this country in 1994. Subsequently he has appeared on many TV and radio programmes and given numerous presentations both here and abroad on often controversial subjects including the Apollo Moon Landings. Steadily increasing readership has proved Nexus to be the world’s best selling alternative news magazine.

THE NINE RESONANCE PATTERNS
Dr Gernot Graefe, an Austrian Biologist, and Dr Maria Felsenreich, who had a background of environmental work together studied the life-bearing properties of water, finding that "In its naturally healthy state water can be dowsed for nine clearly identified resonance formations. The transformation of these resonance formations leads to the build up of corresponding information fields, which stand in relation to specific chemical elements, vital functions and magnetic patterns." The talk will re-view their work and attempt to link the results of their research with the ancient notion of "The Music of the Spheres" and contemporary research into the arising of the various forms in nature.
Sylvia Francke is the author of 'The Tree of Life and the Holy Grail (Temple Lodge Publishing) in which she has used her knowledge of Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy (Spiritual Science) as an aid to solving the Mystery of Rennes-Le-Château.
Friday November 27th Public Lecture
SIR ISAAC NEWTON: ENGLAND’S GREATEST OCCULTIST AND MYSTIC
Dr Edi Bilimoria
This lavishly illustrated talk will show that Newton’s greatest discoveries owed their origin to his deeply religious and mystical insights of which his science was only a component. His deep forays into alchemy, theology, prophecy and chronology will be amply demonstrated. He truly understood Divinity and the nature of Light.
An award-winning Consultant Engineer by profession, Edi Bilimoria is the author of scholarly papers and a prize-winning book on the relationship between science and the perennial wisdom. Edi’s written work has been published extensively in the fields of science, engineering and the esoteric philosophy. His book 'The Snake and the Rope' was awarded a prize by the Scientific and Medical Network on which he serves on the Board of Directors.

LEY LINES, TEMPLARS AND DESTINY AMID OUR ENGLAND LANDSCAPE
Can soul relationships be expressed as precise geometrical alignments along etheric pathways over Earth’s surface? Is it feasible to depict the same soul associations as sacred geometry upon the celestial sphere? How do these matters relate to the innovative terms “Soul Geomancy” and “Natal Time Resonance”? What could any of these novel philosophies have in common with Midsummer’s Day, or the “Cross of Light” or the Knights Templar?
In an illustrated presentation of his own spiritual journey, Mark Herbert – Earth Sensitive, Ley-man and Astrosopher, explores and interprets his findings to discover “Soul Heritage” making a compelling true life case for the pre-natal intelligence of the soul and its post-natal spiritual guidance.
Mark is an independent researcher, educator and writer in spiritual matters relating to Earth and sky at this time of rising cosmic consciousness. His areas of expertise are cosmology, subtle Earth energies, the Templars, reincarnation and their interconnections.

ART AND THE ARCHETYPES OF SUPERCONSCIOUSNESS
Drawing on his unique work, artist and author Neil Hague illustrates the language of the visionary in art throughout history and the 'power of art' to awaken the super consciousness.
Neil Hague is a UK artist, authorial illustrator and lecturer, originally trained in graphics and book publishing. Over the past fifteen years he has developed a 'unique' vision through his unique style of art and creativity. One that has been described as both spiritual and 'neo-shamanic' by people who have heard him lecture or who have seen his work.
Robert Cowley Memorial Lecture - POUSSIN'S SEARCH FOR THE GOLDEN AGE
The RILKO AGM (6.45 - 7.15pm, Members ONLY) will precede this public lecture.
(Please note the later 7.30 pm lecture start on this occasion - ALL are welcome to the lecture - Non-Members as well as members.)
Research, following the discovery of a unique geometry in the sub-structure of Les Bergers d’Arcadie, revealed that Poussin was closely affiliated to a European wide network of intellectual circles who were involved in a noble, but at that time heretical, quest. This was nothing less than the restoration of the mythical Golden Age through scientific discovery, personal spiritual enlightenment and social reform.
Formerly a secondary school teacher of mathematics, Guy Patton has always had a particular fascination for geometry and numerical relationships. An interest in history, architecture, psychology and religions led to reading The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. Intrigued but not entirely convinced he undertook his own research and published 'Web of Gold', 2000, and 'Masters of Deception', 2009. His latest work involved a detailed study of Poussin and his Arcadian Shepherds. The findings are presented in 'Poussin’s Arcadian Vision: Search for the Golden Age', 2014.

HIDDEN ENERGY FIELDS REVEALED
This lecture will consider the delicate and almost imperceptible human and environmental energy fields that surround us all and outline the history behind the development of the speaker’s latest innovative PIP software program, 'New Energy Vision' (NEV), a program which displays live and real-time visual feedback of these subtle energies. Harry will also present the 'Crystal Harmony Light Unit' which combines harmonising frequencies with Crystals, Light, and Colour to assist in rebalancing the energy field of the subject, plus show images taken with the 'Oldfield Filter' which splits light into its different frequency components and which, in experienced and sensitive hands, can yield extraordinary images showing energy field effects and entities otherwise invisible in the environment.
Harry Oldfield is a scientist and an inventor who for many years has been at the cutting edge in developing technology to detect and harmonise human energy fields. www.electrocrystal.com

DOWSING: USING THE PAST TO FIND OUT THE FUTURE
There is currently no accepted measure for quantifying the subtle energies that dowsers find. The Bovis Unit, as discovered by Anton Bovis, a French physicist who used it in his archaeological work, does however provide a workable scale. Such a uniform measure if adopted internationally by dowsers and those working within the fields of health and the environment, could provide enormous benefits to the community and have a multitude of personal applications.
Michael Haxeltine is an experienced dowser of many years standing who lecturers widely on the subject and is the author of the book Bovis Units in Everyday Life.
Please bring dowsing rods, pendulum and Bovis chart with you to the lecture. A metal nut on a piece of string or, for the ladies, a pendant will make a functional pendulum.

The John Michell Memorial Lecture
HIGH WEIRDNESS & THE FUNCTION OF THE OBSCURE
IN THE WESTERN ESOTERIC TRADITION
The Western Esoteric Tradition, and the landscape of magic, mysticism and religion within which it lies, is replete with curiosities, and even pathologies, that make its exploration often amusing but sometimes unsettling. Why is so much of esotericism so weird and obscure? John Michell loved the eccentric, and this talk aims to be both entertaining and sobering, at turns elucidating and obfuscatory. Examples of High Weirdness from the audience will be welcome.
Philip Carr-Gomm trained with Ross Nichols, the founder of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids, and has been leading the Order for over twenty years. He is a writer, psychologist and lecturer.

STONE-AGE DRUGS 'n' ROCK & ROLL
In this highly illustrated audio-visual presentation, Paul will look at the archaeological evidence for the use of psychoactive substances and altered (trance) states of consciousness in ancient times, and will also describe some of the more recent work on sounds at ancient sites.
Paul Devereux is the founding co-editor of Time & Mind - Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture; a research affiliate at the Royal College of Art; a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Senior Research Fellow, International Consciousness Research Laboratories (ICRL) group, Princeton. Starting as a painter his works became increasingly inspired by the geometry and numinosity of ancient monuments. This experience caused his interests to take an archaeological focus especially the “cognitive” aspects, trying to “get inside” the prehistoric mind, and this has broadened into the study of anthropological themes, especially what is known as “the anthropology of consciousness”. He is the author of several books on this subject. www.pauldevereux.co.uk

SPRINGTIME - THE MORNING OF THE YEAR
This talk will explore the significance of the early part of the yearly cycle when the earth is preparing for the wonderful flowering of spring. Time devoted now to envisioning the year ahead on an inner level will help the promise and potential that lies within us to come into flower. This talk will offer time for inner reflection, an opportunity to clarify our intentions. How we start makes a difference. We will look at some traditional rituals of purification and dedication that are enacted at this time. As the old yields to the new, this is a time to light a candle of dedication to the year, lighting a fire in our hearts, in the heart of our community and our world.
Louise Coe leads groups in exploration of the eight solar festivals of the year. She also works with Inner Alignment, a feng shui practise that realigns the space where you live or work so that your outer world reflects your inner most expressions. www.inneralignment.co.uk

CREATING TRUE LIES
Dr. Robert A. Gilbert
In this lecture Dr. R. A. Gilbert moves beyond the parameters of masonic and Templar pseudo-history (the subject of an earlier lecture) to examine the manipulation of historical and critical data to create predetermined conclusions in the fields of paranormal research and of ‘lost knowledge’ in general. Over the last decade pseudo-history and false data have proliferated with the rise of the Internet and social media, and this has resulted in the crippling of objective debate and research in the study of ‘alternative’ history, science and religion. Using examples from such diverse fields as astronomy, Gnosticism, Tibet and the Western Esoteric Tradition, Bob Gilbert shows how we can understand the nature and origins of this false ‘knowledge’, expose the motives of those who propagate it, and find ways to replace the false with the true.
Dr. Robert A. Gilbert is an author and retired antiquarian bookseller who has written and lectured extensively on many aspects of the Western Esoteric Tradition – notably on the milieu of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. His most recent book is Gnosticism and Gnosis, an Introduction (2012) and he is currently editor of The Christian Parapsychologist.

THE EVIDENCE FOR PREHISTORIC SURVEYING
The RILKO AGM will be held from 6.45 to 7.15 (Doors open 6.30pm)
The public is warmly welcomed to the lecture at 7.30pm
This illustrated lecture will present robust evidence that the world was surveyed and measured in prehistoric times. The technological residues from this activity will be shown to be recognisable in modern times, and are found permeating presently employed measures, astronomical, geometrical and geodetic techniques and within prehistoric monuments, where this evidence remains almost completely unrecognised within archaeology. Find out why!
Robin Heath has a science degree and was a research and development engineer before becoming the head of technology at Coleg Ceredigion. The author of eleven books, he lectures widely on the subject of megalithic science and the evidence for ancient wisdom and has worked on projects with the media, John Michell and Paul Broadhurst, and his brother and fellow author Richard Heath.

THE SACRED MONOCHORD AND THE DIVINE HARMONY
The ancient philosophers asserted that the world consisted of a perfect harmony from the Earth to the starry heavens. In traditional cosmology there are nine spheres above the Earth consisting of the planets, the moon and the sun. Each corresponds to an aspect of existence and is ruled by one of the nine Muses, as well as corresponding to the metals and colours used in Anglo-Norman heraldry and the notes of the musical octave. The numerical proportions between the spheres was discovered by Pythagoras and is the basis of the Western diatonic musical scale, hence his single-stringed musical instrument the Monochord. Robert Fludd wrote in 1617: “The Monochord is the internal principle, which….brings about the harmony of all life in the Cosmos”.
Nigel Pennick is a prolific researcher, writer, artist and lecturer. His area of interest centres on sacred and traditional ways and he has over forty publications to his credit including works on geomancy, dragons, sacred geometry and Celtic crosses.

THE MELKARTH LINE AND OTHER PATTERNS IN THE LANDSCAPE
Tonight’s lecture will give a glimpse into the minefield of the speaker’s ongoing research. It will include a detailed and entertaining account of the recently discovered Melkarth Line, as well as shed light upon the discovery of the more famous St. Michael Line and also the landscape mystery of the Somerset Parallelogram. These Earth Mysteries are not coincidental patterns upon the land; they are a deliberate mechanism used by certain initiates and esoteric antiquarians, Freemasons and so on, referred to by Katharine Maltwood as ‘The British Secret Tradition’.
Yuri Leitch is a Glastonbury-based artist, writer and Psychic Quester. For many years he has researched the life and intrigues of the mystical sculptor, Katharine Maltwood, famous for her discovery of the Temple of the Stars (Glastonbury Zodiac. He is a major contributor to The Signs and Secrets of the Glastonbury Zodiac, 2013.

The Annual John Michell Memorial Lecture.
ABOUT THE PYRAMIDS OF BRITAIN
Alan J. Watts
In The View Over Atlantis John Michell illustrates a pyramidal triangle – one whose proportions are the same as a meridian cross-section of the Great Pyramid. Tonight's lecture describes the speaker's discovery of a great scheme of pyramidal triangles linking the major archaeological sites of Wessex and surrounding areas that was set in place by an unknown but very ancient civilisation. Sites like Stonehenge and Silbury Hill were apparently developed on archaic navels much older than their traditionally ascribed dates. Dowsers sense the influence at the corners of the grid of triangles, which may explain their attraction as gathering places over the millennia.
Alan J. Watts B.Sc. was a teacher of physics and maths for 30 years and has had a long-term interest in UFOs. His landscape discoveries have been published an eBook The Pyramids of Britain (available from Amazon).

THE ENIGMA OF SELE
There is a puzzle awaiting a solution in the landscape surrounding the medieval Benedictine Priory of Sele in Sussex. The geometric configuration of ancient churches around the Priory to be found on the map of the River Adur valley near Shoreham by Sea is undeniable and its symmetry is quite remarkable. While some would like to attribute its creation to the Knight Templars, it nevertheless continues to defy rational explanation by the experts in the placement and alignment of ancient churches. Our speaker will describe the background to his mysterious discovery and offer some possible explanations.
Bob Brown has been studying the mysterious of the landscape for many years. He is a true antiquarian in that he combines an eye for the curious with an enquiring mind.

THE CUNNING FOLK OF LONDON
For hundreds of years after the Reformation, Londoners could rely on a whole class of professional magicians to find stolen property, bring back departed lovers or tell their fortunes. Using grimoires of ancient lore they were as well known a profession as doctors, lawyers or accountants. In this talk new sources of data will be used to tell their stories.
Steve Wilson has been chairing his own esoteric lecture series in London since 1990 and is the author of two books, as well as acting as the media officer for the Council of British Druid Orders.

THE CERNE GIANT -
ITS LANDSCAPE, GODS AND STARGATE
This PowerPoint presentation will describe the findings detailed in Peter Knight’s 8th book. It looks at the fertility folklore, earth energies and the landscape setting of the iconic Cerne Giant hill figure in Dorset. The Giant’s identity and date of origin will also be discussed in the light of the speaker’s discovery of related astronomical alignments. We will also hear about an Egyptian Stargate that aligns with the Giant and alignments to other mythical stellar figures, such as Orion and Hercules. Peter will ask the question can such hill figures be used today for planetary healing?

GEOMETRY AND ILLUMINATION
This talk is about a journey into Sacred Geometry, where logic, imagination and intuitive perception come together as a tool for realising and expressing the spiritual domain in society and in the individual. It has been used in this way from ancient times in all traditions of illumination.
Malcolm Stewart is a teacher practitioner of Sacred Geometry in Stained Glass, Mosaic and print media. His work has been used in Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, and New Age environments. Formerly a television producer, he was encouraged by John Michell to publish his researches and this has borne fruit in two significant works Symbols of Eternity and Patterns of Eternity, with a third volume being his aspirational finale.

ESOTERIC ASTROLOGY AND THE SEVEN RAYS
Brought to the public awareness through the channelled writings of Alice Bailey in the 1940’s, Esoteric Astrology was based on the idea of a system of Seven Ray energies, said to emanate from the one Divine Source. In Esoteric Astrology, the birthchart, and in particular the Ascendant of the birthchart, represents the potential for the journey and development of the Soul in any given lifetime. Each sign is representative of one or more of the Seven Ray energies as they flow down to earth via the constellations, and into our physical being. Janet’s interest in Esoteric Astrology began some 20 years ago, when she met the late Dr. Douglas Baker, a tireless lecturer on all things esoteric, and attended many of his lectures and workshops.
Janet Dare obtained the Diploma of The Faculty of Astrological Studies in London in June 2010. She is currently a tutor for the Faculty on their Distance Learning Course, and runs a private practice from her home on the Richmond/Kingston borders.
The labyrinth pattern is found on five-thousand-year-old Egyptian tomb seals, on 1st century BC Cretan coins and in medieval cathedrals throughout Europe. Labyrinths were popular for Romans pavements and nearly every culture around the world has examples. England, with eight surviving examples, has the largest number of ancient turf mazes of any country. What is the secret of its enduring fascination? This lecture will explore the history of the labyrinth, its variations in design and demonstrate how they may be constructed.
Robert Stephenson is a mazemaker who has researched the intricacies of the labyrinth design and its history for many decades. He teaches on London and its folklore and is a qualified City of London guide. Robert has contributed to books on legendary London and the paranormal, and is the current RILKO Chairman.

In this highly illustrated talk, cosmologist John Martineau will examine the puzzle of fine-tuning in the universe, and, closer to home, will discuss the strange abundance of synchronous coincidences in the solar system, particularly around Earth. What kind of solutions best explain the evidence? Are we ready for them?
John Martineau is publisher of the award-winning Wooden Books series, and author of A Little Book of Coincidence in the Solar System.
Manly Hall was the towering figure of mystical thought in America in the twentieth century. His work was Theosophical in essence but the many books he wrote and published were written with the Average Guy in mind. He popularised European mystical thought in America and was highly respected during his long and rewarding life. He travelled extensively, had a real rags to riches life, he knew everybody, was much loved and deeply respected. And then he hired his own killer. The man was jealous, and very greedy and overstepped the mark one hot Californian day...
Geraldine Beskin is from The Atlantis Bookshop and has an abiding interest in ley lines, sacred spaces and most aspects of the esoteric - particularly the people involved.
Sarah will recount some of her experiences on pilgrimage within the British Isles which connect with the triple zodiac of the British Isles – Britain (England and Wales), Ireland and Scotland and the main chakra system which connects these three lands and their heart centres. She will also consider the myth of Europa and the Bull, the overlighting myth connecting the British Isles with mainland Europe, which provides a key to understanding the role of Europe in the world. Finally, she will look at pilgrimage as a way of healing and gaining knowledge, initiation and a wider understanding of nature.
Sarah Dawkins has been involved with pilgrimages since the inception of the Gatekeeper Trust in 1980. With her husband Peter she has widely travelled within the British Isles and Europe studying myths and the stories that arise out of the energy and patterns of the landscape. Sarah delights in celebrating the solar festivals through song, dance and fire ceremonies. Sarah organises pilgrimages and workshops within the Zoence Academy.(Zoence means ‘Pathway of the Soul’)
Is the head the seat of the soul? Or just an emblem representing the individual life-force? The human head and the ‘tête coupée’, or severed head, has been a key image around which a variety of concepts have constellated in religious and magical thought from the earliest days of human history. John Billingsley traces the recurrence of the motif through history, legend and other lore, and untangles a consistent implication of meaning that may still be active today.
John Billingsley is the author of A Stony Gaze: Investigating Celtic and other stone heads (Capall Bann, 1998) and several books on folklore and related topics in his home county of West Yorkshire. He is also the editor of Northern Earth magazine.

THE REALITY OF WOLFRAM VAN ESCHENBACH’S PARZIVAL
AND THE GRAIL MYSTERIES OF ANTIQUITY
Who was 'Kyot,' referred to by both Chrétien de Troyes and Wolfram von Eschenbach, how did he discover the Grail Story from 'Flegetanis' being thus able to form a bridge between the original Grail Mysteries and the time in which he was living, apparently parallel with the life-span of an actual 'Parzival' individual in the Ninth Century? Sylvia Francke will pick up glimmers of insight which seem to fit into a vast canvas of precisely dated events and exact locations that point to 'Parzival' as real-life Drama, stretching across the breadth of Ninth Century Europe tracing a Rosicrucian thread from Ancient Chaldea to the 20th and 21st centuries.
Sylvia Francke is an Anthroposophist and the author of The Tree of Life and the Holy Grail. She is a member of the RILKO council and of the council of the Francis Bacon Society.

THE FORBIDDEN UNIVERSE: THE OCCULT ORIGINS
OF SCIENCE & THE SEARCH FOR THE MIND OF GOD
Lynn Picknett & Clive Prince
Based on their latest book Lynn and Clive will reveal the true origins of science and how scientists’ denial of their discipline’s esoteric roots undermines their capacity to understand their own discoveries… All the major players in the Scientific Revolution – from Copernicus to Newton – were directly inspired by the Hermetica, mystical texts traceable to ancient Egypt. But a strange collusion between religion and science resulted in the rewriting of history to eliminate the esoteric. Although rarely mentioned, cutting-edge modern science, particularly quantum physics, has overwhelmingly indicated that the universe was designed. In fact these discoveries gel remarkably with the ancient cosmology of the Hermetica.
Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince are just celebrating their 22nd year of co-authorship and ground-breaking research. Their joint career began with Turin Shroud: How Leonardo Da Vinci Fooled History and – eight books later - they have just published The Forbidden Universe. They are best known for their 1997 The Templar Revelation, which Dan Brown acknowledged as the primary inspiration for The Da Vinci Code. As an acknowledgement for their contribution they were given cameos in the movie. They have also appeared in many documentaries and DVDs and speak internationally.

John Michell Memorial Lecture
JOHN MICHELL’S SIGNALS; COSMIC CODE-BREAKING
FROM OUTER SPACE TO PATTERNS ON EARTH
More than forty years ago a shooting star illuminated thousands of minds. John Michell’s The View Over Atlantis laid out a systematic explanation not only of the ruins of an alien order in which we live but also related it to imminent changes on a millennial scale. This book was Michell’s second book and tonight Nicholson will examine in detail John’s first three books as a trilogy. Linking themes from The Flying Saucer Vision to John’s later works Nicholson will also explore the transition of John’s interest in these psychic disturbances to the emergence of a systematic unification of alignments, patterns and significant remnants of the civilization Michell believed contains lessons we urgently need to understand.
John Nicholson, having been associated with John’s unconventional pamphlets since the early 1970s, is uniquely placed to bring personal insights and his own experience to bear on John’s work and personality. In 1985 he contributed the key essay to An English Figure, the essential study of Michell’s work. Recently he published An Appendix, a view over John Michell, which described the perceptions of John’s death and how his reputation is being shaped.

THE MYSTERIES OF THE STONE OF DESTINY
Certain objects possess a magical power and are desired by powerful men, but this desire comes from the object, or unseen forces working through it. Ownership is a matter of destiny and changes in ownership can signify apocalyptic events. Perhaps the oldest and greatest of them all is the Lia Fail or Stone of Destiny. In legend it predates the Ark of the Covenant and was the stone used by the patriarch Jacob as a pillow and an altar. Adrian Gilbert will explore the stone’s legends and history and how it was brought from the Near East to Ireland. He will show how its dimensions provide evidence that links it to the Egyptian pyramids and the British Druids. Finally he suggests that its recent removal from Westminster was engineered from higher dimensions, for this stone is truly is a talisman whose fate, like that of the Ark of the Covenant, is emblematic of the unfolding of prophetic history.
Adrian Gilbert is a well-known author of books on ancient mysteries. The hallmarks of his work are scrupulously honest research, coupled with imaginative reappraisal of established opinions in the light of new evidence. To date he has written ten books.
This talk is based on Milena Ivovic's book Memento 13 – Remembering the Self through the Geometry of God’s Love (www.memento13.com). It will explore the shapes and numbers related to the unfoldment of Creation; the Pythagoreans’ genesis of Numbers, the Platonic solids, the Flower of Life figure, Fractals, shapes behind Sound, the geometry of the “Logos”, and this will be done in a playful but sincere manner. “Long paths lead to a beautiful eureka moment when all our spiritual intent and all our scientific inquiry fits together in oneness…a crowning moment”. (Memento 13)
Milena Ivovic was professionally educated as an architect and is an award-winning artist. She paints mostly in water based colours: in Chinese colours on silk and rice paper, and watercolour. Her work varies from flowers and architecture to rather abstract themes with spiritual or erotic backgrounds. Milena has exhibited from Scotland to Brighton at numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 1994 she won the Harper-Collins prize for the best flower painting at the National Exhibition in London. Her work can be found in Germany, Mexico, Macao, USA and many private collections worldwide.
From antiquity until the beginning of modern times, the name Hermes Trismegistus was one to conjure with, literally. Thought to be the source of all ancient wisdom and knowledge, founder of civilization, master of magic, the arts, and sciences, Hermes Trismegistus was believed to be a contemporary of Moses and the teacher of Plato. Yet in the early 17th century this legendary figure lost all credibility. Who was this remarkable individual, why did his mystic teachings lose their standing, and is there anything we can learn from him? This talk explore the possibilities his teachings may hold for us today.
Gary Lachman is the author of several books on the links between consciousness, culture, and the Western esoteric tradition, including Jung the Mystic; Rudolf Steiner: An Introduction to His Life and Work; A Secret History of Consciousness and Politics and the Occult. He has written for The Times Literary Supplement, The Independent on Sunday, Fortean Times and The Guardian. A founding member of the rock group Blondie, in 2006 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since 1996 he has lived in London and is a frequent guest on BBC Radio 3 and 4.
THE EARTH’S MAGNETIC FIELD, DOWSING & SACRED SITES
Subtle magnetic forces affect the workings of our pineal gland, which leads to a new understanding of our subtle connections with this planet, dowsing, Earth Mysteries and Sacred Sites. Dowsing is a method of using the body’s sensitivity to the earth and to slight changes in the earth’s magnetic field to discover whether or not water is flowing in measurable quantities underneath, or whether there are metal ores for mining. It is also possible that the modern technique of dowsing “Earth Energies” at sacred sites, stone circles, crop circles, etc, could perhaps be using this subliminal body sense of ours.
Serena Roney-Dougal did a PhD thesis in Parapsychology at Surrey University. There are only about 50 people in Britain who have this qualification. She has had over 30 years of study and experience in scientific, magical and spiritual explorations of the psyche, has lectured and taught courses, seminars and workshops in America, Britain and Europe; has written numerous articles both technical and popular, and two books; Where Science and Magic Meet and The Faery Faith. She is a founder of the Friends of Bride's Mound.

METAPHYSICS & THE MEDIA: A CONSIDERATION
OF THE SPIRITUAL IN CONTEMPORARY CULTURE
Socrates’ great question was ‘How should one live?’ and this has been the inspiration for this illustrated lecture. H G Wells and Aldous Huxley found it necessary to begin with metaphysics when considering the nature of truth and knowledge. Pirsig, Kerouac and Hess wrote semi-autobiographical novels detailing their own spiritual journeys, while others now see an emerging synthesis between modern quantum physics, Pythagorean cosmology and paranormal psychology. Similarly, research into altered states of consciousness indicates that early magical practices and beliefs are a function of an innate human spirituality. Many regard the arts and media as a creative wellspring while others see the production of ‘social knowledge’ by a commercialised media as a threat. The promises and dangers posed by the economic and cultural technologies in the 21st century bring a new dimension to Socrates’ question.
Michael King has been a course manager and lecturer in Further Education for thirty years. His main undergraduate teaching has been in Literature, Communication Studies, Psychology and Film & TV Production, subjects with much to say about the human condition. His interest in the functions of education has led to a study of its values, and to a consideration of the contested concepts of ’critical awareness’ and ‘critical autonomy’. SPIRIT OF PLACE
Geomancy is the esoteric art of working with the living energies of the land. Geomancy today echoes ancient shamanic practices, with extra-sensory skills used to divine Earth spirit and read the twilight language of the soul of the landscape, its Dreamtime dimension. A renewal of interest in such mysteries and concern for Earth’s well-being has spawned a new generation of geomancers who are championing the protection of sacred landscapes, in a world enmeshed with electro-magnetic pollution, a potential carcinogen. The 'Spirit of Place' looks at how people can access the Dreamtime dimensions of place, and avoid the impacts of noxious energies in the environment by using their dowsing abilities.
Alanna Moore is an Australian geomancer specialising in surveying the subtle energies of place, and in 1984 she co-founded the New South Wales Dowsing Society. For over 27 years she has advised on the selection of healthy living locations and warns against building on geopathic stress zones or ‘fairy pathways’.
Alanna, who has English and Irish heritage, is familiar with the ancient geomantic traditions of the Australian Aboriginals. She finds many parallels with the culture of Ireland where there is traditional respect for the land and its invisible forces. She is also a permaculture farmer and teacher, and currently spends summers in Ireland, where the Round Towers inspired the 'Power Towers' that she creates to enhance plant growth and well-being.
Alanna is also a filmmaker and the author of seven books, including Sensitive Permaculture (2009), Divining Earth Spirit (2004) and Stone Age Farming (2001), which is about esoteric agriculture and Power Towers.
MAGICAL MINDSCAPES: THE VARIETIES OF SACRED GEOGRAPHY
Sacred geography is the meeting of mind and topography, of land and soul. It is how ancient and traditional peoples invested their territories with meaning. In this highly illustrated presentation Paul will take us on a world tour of sacred lands, from the desert lines and effigies of deserts in the Americas, to Buddhists soundscapes, to ancient acoustic Chinese gardens and musical stones of the Stone Age, to places with faces - and many more examples of sacred geography.
Paul Devereux is a research affiliate with the Royal College of Art, and Managing (and a founding) Editor of Time & Mind – The Journal of Archaeology, Consciousness and Culture (Berg, Oxford). He is a Senior Research Fellow of the Consciousness Research Laboratories (ICRL), Princeton, and the Director of the Dragon Project Trust. He edited the legendary Ley Hunter magazine 1977-1997. Besides much fieldwork in deserts, mountains and jungles, he has written a great many general articles and a string of peer-reviewed papers, plus 26 books dealing with the anthropologies of consciousness, archaeoacoustics and other aspects of ancient sites, landscapes and lifeways. He lectures in Europe, the UK and North America. His latest book is Sacred Geography; a major work published this year by Gaia Books.
This is an event dedicated to the remarkable story of the oldest living things in Europe and their endangered future. The yew is one of the most versatile life forms on earth – botanically rich and intriguing. The story of the yew has a rich cultural and historical background – it was the Tree of Life, the tree in the Garden of Eden and the original Christmas Tree. Yet, the British obsession with using yew for the medieval longbow led to the destruction of yew forests across continental Europe because the wood was superior.
Now, the mass destruction of yews overseas means that the UK is a Noah’s Ark for the conservation of ancient yews worldwide. Eighty to eighty five per cent of these grow in British churchyards, where the Church is the guardian and custodian of this ancient heritage.
Fred Hageneder is an authority on ethnobotany. His books include: The Spirit of Trees: Science, Symbiosis and Inspiration (2000) and The Living Wisdom of Trees: Natural History, Folklore, Symbolism, Healing (2005) and Yew – A History (2007).
Fred is a founding member and the chairman of Friends of the Trees, a registered charity concerned with nature conservation, and a founder member of the AYG (Ancient Yew Group). Friday 28th January 2011
THE SECRET LAND Paul Broadhurst
In this illustrated talk, Paul Broadhurst will reveal the extraordinary discoveries in his new book The Secret Land. He will show that a series of gigantic landscape figures were created in the West Country to reflect important star constellations linked to Arthurian mythology. These include the Great Bear at Tintagel, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur.
Since Arthur means Great Bear in the old British language the truth is shown to be derived from an impressive understanding of cosmology, for the constellation of the Great Bear is the guardian of heavenly order, which ancient kings sought to bring down to earth. These figures create a ‘Round Table’ of constellations, each reflecting the powers associated with certain star-groups. Merlin was the originator of the Round Table, which became Arthur’s property on his marriage to Guinevere, the King of Cornwall’s daughter, and these discoveries are linked to the earliest known British legends. Here is proof that the megalith builders, Druids and early Celtic Christian Church, as well as the Knights Templar, understood the secrets of the landscape.
Paul Broadhurst is one of the most original authors and researchers into the mysteries of ancient landscapes, their myths and their effects on human consciousness. Probably best known as the co-author of classics The Sun and the Serpent and The Dance of the Dragon, which have changed the way a whole generation relate to the land, he has also written a number of ground-breaking books investigating subjects as diverse as Holy Wells, Arthurian mythology and the real meaning behind the myth of St George. EXPLORING SACRED SPACE AND SACRED SOUND
Hearing is the first sense to develop and the last to leave at death. Ancient people recognized the importance of sound and sought out resonant caves to perform rituals. Later temples and churches were built to enhance sound and music for the purpose of expanding consciousness.
In this lecture we will journey across space and time via images and sounds, including the cymatic cubes at Rosslyn Chapel; Chartres Cathedral; prehistoric painted caves; the Michael and Mary lines in Britain; and the world's most extraordinary sonic temples. We will discover the relationship of vocal structure with sacred architecture and explore the mysteries of the human voice. We will also listen to the sacred music of different cultures from swan bone whistle flutes played in the Neolithic, to a 3,000 year old lullaby, to pilgrim songs to the Black Madonna of Montserrat, to contemporary music recorded in sacred sites and finally with the sound of our own voices.
Susan Elizabeth Hale MA., is an internationally renowned music therapist, sound healer and author from America. Her latest book is Sacred Space, Sacred Sound: The Acoustic Mysteries of Holy Places. She is a seminar leader, teacher and guide, helping people to explore their sacred paths and find and free the natural voice.
JOHN MICHELL: AN INTRODUCTION HIS WORK
Described by poet and scholar Kathleen Raine as ‘one of the most brilliant men in England’, John Michell was a unique, multi-faceted personality and a writer who produced many flashes of genius. As a modern Merlin, he influenced a whole generation or more with his revelations and insights into ancient science – geometry, geodesy, and cosmology - and he stands as a twentieth-century giant in the stream of arithmosophy. However, John Michell dealt with many subjects. In this talk, Christine Rhone will survey his work as a whole, viewing his books over four decades and showing how each book contributed to his central vision.
Christine Rhone is a French-American dual national living in London. She is the co-author, with John Michell, of Twelve-Tribe Nations and worked with him for three years on The Cereologist magazine. She is the translator of such titles as Sacred Geography of the Ancient Greeks by Jean Richer, and Youthfulness and Chivalry in Iranian Islam by Henry Corbin; forthcoming is Western Esotericism: A Concise History by Antoine Faivre (SUNY, 2010). She contributes to many small press publications.

SHAMEN, MEGALITHS AND THE CITY BUILDERS - THE HIDDEN CONNECTIONS
Washington DC is not normally linked with shamen and megaliths who we associate with Peruvian medicine men and dolmens on Salisbury Plain. But they have more in common with the origins of modern cities than we realize. We mistakenly believe that cities grew out of farming. Instead, the ancient archetype of civilization that appeared in Mesopotamia over 6,000 years ago introduced farming.
The Egyptians, Phoenicians and Mayans used knowledge gained from shamanic ritual to build cities. Pharaohs were initiated as shamen; and learnt the secrets of alchemy. There is evidence in Indo-European languages that confirms this archetype. The roots of their common language reveals that they had contact with the civilisers, even though early Indo-Europeans did not live in cities until several thousand years later and never learnt all their secrets. We now have the benefit of cities but not the secret knowledge.
Lucy Wyatt lives with her family on a small Suffolk farm that was still derelict in 2000. It was a rare chance to explore living in harmony with Nature. Lucy is interested in Earth energies and for over 10 years has led local Gatekeeper Trust pilgrimages at the equinoxes and solstices. In January 2010, O Books published her first book, Approaching Chaos - could an ancient archetype save C21st civilisation?
