Maryel Gardyne grew up on a farm in Scotland in the 1920`s and 30`s. After World War II she gained a place in art school in London and Paris. She exhibited paintings in Edinburgh and London and was a long-standing member of RILKO and of the Soil Association. Settling finally in Edinburgh in 1970, Maryel met people who were interested in harmonics. Some scientists were re-quoting the ancient belief in the music of the spheres, and a study of the laws of vibration, along with the visible conformation of objects (plants and people etc.) seems to bear this out. In particular, the "Pythagorean Comma" was a turning point in the appreciation of how nature appears to us. After 25 years of research "The Atom and the Octave", the book by Maryel Gardyne, was the result. Maryel Gardyne website: www.atomandoctave.co.uk Hans Kayser studied music as a young man, gaining an excellent background in harmonics and composition theory from his teacher, Arnold Schönberg who, despite recognizing his student’s great gifts, advised Kayser that he should not become a composer, since he was more of a philosopher than a musician. Kayser was one of the 20th Century's leading scientists, made a profound philosophic study of Harmonics and wrote a series of works which deeply explored the fundamental principles of Pythagorian Harmony. Hans Kayser website: www.hanskayser.com Alanna Moore, who has English and Irish heritage, is an Australian geomancer specialising in surveying the subtle energies of plac. She is familiar with the ancient geomantic traditions of the Australian Aboriginals. She finds many parallels with the culture of Ireland where there is traditional respect for the land and its invisible forces. She is also a permaculture farmer and teacher, and currently spends summers in Ireland, where the Round Towers inspired the 'Power Towers' that she creates to enhance plant growth and well-being. Alanna Moore website: www.geomantica.com Susan Hale has studied the relationship of vocal structure with sacred architecture, the mysteries of the human voice and the sacred music of different cultures and historic periods. People recognized the importance of sound, utilising natural resonant spaces, and later building temples and churches to enhance sound and music for the purpose of expanding consciousness. Susan is an internationally renowned music therapist, sound healer and author from America. Susan Hale website: www.songkeeper.net Stephanie Bolton lives in County Cork, Ireland, and is an experienced dowser who gives illustrated talks, workshops and individual apprenticeships on topics related to Earth energies. Stephanie Bolton website: www.healing-the-earth.com The Library of Avalon is, to its Trustees' knowledge, the only publicly-accessible esoteric library in the UK, perhaps even in Europe, but is not the only one in the world - there is a similar organisation in America. It is supported entirely by donations and by the subscriptions of its borrowing members. A public reading-room is provided for the use of non-members, with full reference access to the displayed collections. All visitors are welcome. The opening hours include all weekday afternoons. A number of relevant magazines are provided. The Library's collections include, among about ten thousand books on display and several thousand more currently in storage, elements of the libraries of the Research into Lost Knowledge Organisation (RILKO) and the Wessex Research Group. The Library of Avalon website: www.libraryofavalon.org.uk Peter Knight, who spoke to RILKO in 2008, is well known for his writing in the field of Earth Mysteries and is the co-founder and chairman of the Dorset Earth Mysteries Group. Peter, author of several books, lectures widely and leads many field trips every year to sacred sites. His previous books include: Ancient Stones of Dorset; Sacred Dorset - on the Path of the Dragon; Dorset Pilgrimages - a Millennium Handbook, 13 Moons - Conversations with the Goddess, The Wessex Astrum and The West Kennet Long Barrow: Landscape, Shamans and the Cosmos (2011). Peter Knight is also the author and compiler of a massive CD-ROM about Earth Mysteries which represents a vast labour of love and is the culmination of his findings over the last 15 years, as well as being a comprehensive overview of the latest research by other authors on this subject.
